Fancy carved pearl tambour hook. Palais Royal. c 1820

A fine example of a French mother of pearl tambour hook. The pearl is lathe turned and is topped by a little acorn finial. The wing nut and mounts are gilt metal. There are three hooks- one in the holder and the other two in the opposite end under the screw section. c 1820.

There is no damage but the threads on the end of the bulbous section are worn down so that they will no longer take the hook cover in the usual manner.
